LifeWorks Counseling Center provides counseling for the LGBTQ community when it is needed most. Our counseling programs provide support and encouragement of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning individuals, couples, and family members who are struggling with issues of sexuality, alienation, relationships, and family. Our counseling services are offered by licensed professional therapists who understand the unique struggles of the LGBTQ community — we are here to make life work better for LGBTQ youth, families, couples, parents, and individuals.
To enrich the lives of our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning community members, we provide a range of mental health services through our Counseling Center.
We provide counseling for :
- Relationship issues
- Divorce issues
- Co-parenting issues
- Living with HIV and AIDS
- Gender identity issues
- Cancer support
- Transgender support
- Coming out support
- Substance abuse, including alcohol and other drug use
We offer affirming support through short-term, one-on-one or group counseling for those in our LGBTQ community looking to better cope with mental health challenges or to connect with others who share similar concerns. If you or someone you love is struggling with mental health issues and looking for support in the Sonoma County community, our counselors are here to help. Our staff includes licensed bi-lingual therapists and our sessions are on a sliding scale. We also accept Medi-Cal through our Counseling Center.
Our goal through the Center is to help clients clarify thoughts and feelings and to explore various options or solutions, which can include therapist referrals, group counseling, and short-term counseling sessions.
LGBTQ Resources Through Other LifeWorks Programs
We offer five other unique programs that can provide resources and support for members of the LGBTQ community. We work with separated and fragmented families, support emotionally disturbed youth to remain in their public school setting, provide at-risk youth with positive adult relationships to help them discover their self-worth and reclaim their importance in their family and community, offer families and individuals with substance abuse issues the guidance to increase communication and cohesiveness, and empower individuals to become independent and productive members of society
Addressing, protecting, and improving the quality of life for our LGBTQ community is extremely important to us. Through our programs we have provided guidance to members of LGBTQ community that have helped them to grow and succeed.
